Suit Up

My handsome boy! Brock has been asking us for a suit for several months so we finally got him one. He is so proud of his suit. He has worn it to church every Sunday and when I ask if he is wearing his suit he looks at me as if I have asked the dumbest question ever. (so now I ask just to see his face) He had to wear it to both Grandparents houses and make sure that everyone noticed, he did not say anything to them just gave a GQ stance an waited for a response. He is so cute!

Cookie Trees

Last night we made Christmas Trees out of star shaped sugar cookies. We had so much fun decorating them!

As you can see Brock just wanted to eat his right away

Update

Who has time for blogging? Not me! It's been so long I thought I would just update.

Mat has been enjoying RSL's great season and had lots of fun attending the MLS cup in Seattle. He is also very busy with work and his Ward missionary calling.
I am trying to figure out how to me a mom of two, it's beeen quite an adjustment but I think I am getting the hang of it. I an keeping myself busy getting ready for the Holidays and hope once they are over I can get caught up on scrapbooking.
Brock is loving the big K. He likes his teacher and is making many new friends, I love to hear all the stories he tells about things that happend at school. He is learing to read and really enjoys it. He is constanly asking me as we drive places what city we are in and what words spell. It is really fun to watch him grow.
Duncan is a busy body to say the leaste. He is always moving and wnats to go everywhere Brock goes. He makes the simplist tasks like dressing him adn changing his diaper difficlut. He loves standing up at the couch and laundy basket to play. His is an awesome eater and it is staring to show in his cubby cheeks.
We are having so much fun and trying to enjoy each moment as they come. Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.

TWO cute

My dad signed Brock up as a member of SASS (Single Action Shooter Society). Part of the membership includes a monthly "cowboy newspaper". Brock gets very excited when it arrives. It came this week and I walked into the office and found this.

Duncan is getting bigger everyday (at least is seems that way) He really enjoys eating "solid" foods. He makes all kinds of noises as you feed him to let you know he is enjoying himself. The newest thing he has discovered is his feet. He loves to hold on to them.

BiG K

Brock started Kindergarten this week. I am not sure where the last 5 years have gone! I was a bit sad when Brock said he wanted dad to take him to school, (what he really wanted was everyone to see the cool truck his dad just bought) but after they left I was really glad that Mat had been home to take him so I did not have to stand and watch him go in to school with tear filled eyes.
He is loving every min of school and asks all morning long when do I get to go to school. I am so proud of the little man he is becoming.

RoLLie PoLLie

Duncan just learned to Rollover yesterday and now he just can't seem to stop. He must have rolled over a dozen times in just an hour. It is so fun to watch him realize that he can control his body. He is constantly smiling and he loves to "talk" to Brock.
We took him in for his 4 month apt today. He is 26" long (90Th percentile) and only weighs 13 lbs. (25Th percentile) We are going to start solids in the next week and I am hoping they will help fatten him up. I guess a good thing about him being so skinny is Brock's clothes should all fit him in the right seasons.

Brock's favorite was the talking parrot, the Hedge Hog and the scorpion. Thanks to all who celebrated with us!

Do lady bugs bite?

"I know I am only four but I was learned this. Lady bugs bite but their mouths are so tiny that you can't feel it." Brock
Last summer I took Brock to one of the free activities at the library. It was a magician who talked about bugs and did some really fun tricks with bug related things. Brock remembered that the magician said that lady bugs bite. I thought it was so funny that he would bring this up so many months later.
So just remember when you have the urge to pick up one of those cute little bugs that it can bite you!

Preschool Grad!

Brock just had preschool graduation. It was so fun to go and watch his class sing all the songs they have been learning. Brock has learned so much from preschool and made so many friends. He will really miss Miss Janalynn and all the fun things they did. But in just a few short months he will start his new adventure in Kindergarten and he can hardly wait!

Happy Easter!

I found the boys Easter outfits about a month ago, I thought there won't be many times I can dress them to match so I just had to buy them. Luckily Duncan arrived befor Easter, I was not sure that he would when I bought them but I just had to have them.

You can see from the above that Duncan doesn't have a head fat enough to really "make" the outfit. We'll try again soon. Of course, if you look at the hat on his head, it doesn't look like we need to try again for 3 or 4 more years.

My little brother

Dear World,
I’m so excited for my new baby brother, Duncan Thomas. He showed up today; here I am holding him.

He’s so cool, he weighs 8 lbs 3 oz and is 20.5 inches long. That’s just a little smaller than I was.

I can’t wait to teach him so many new things. I’m going to learn how to feed him and burp him, then I'll teach him how to sit up, crawl and walk. When he gets older, I'll share my favorite things with him: How to play Star Wars and use a light saber, swim and play soccer. I’m pretty sure we’re gonna be best friends for our whole lives.

Also, a little more about my little brother's name. Thomas Holdaway is my Great Grandpa's name (my mom's mom's dad). He's such a wonderful Great Grandpa. He loves his family, has worked hard his whole life, and touches the lives of so many family and friends. I hope my little brother can always look up to him like I already do. Love you Grandpa Tom!

Love,

Brock

Star Wars and the Prego Waddle

Mom says to Brock "Would you do me a favor and go downstairs and get my green socks from the chair? I left them down there and it is hard for me to waddle down the stairs."
Brock says "Ha! I know, you waddle like C3PO"
Then he pretends to waddle his way down the stairs laughing. Leaving me upstairs laughing so hard I almost pee my pants. I love that kid!

31 Wks

Just thought I would share some of the fun pregnancy photos that we took. You need to click on the last photo to enlarge it so you can see the expression on Brock's face. It's the face he makes every time he feels the baby move.

Weekend at the house of mouse

Sorry for the long post, but we had an exciting weekend to update you all on. On Friday we decided we needed some sun, but let's back up a bit first...

About 6 weeks ago, I was really pestering Mat to go on a vacation somewhere. Being pregnant in the winter is no fun because you don't get out much. Mat said he couldn't make it work, with things going on at work, and I just left it at that: sad, and pregnant.

Then last Thursday, I saw Mat looking at some flight prices for some reason (still don't know why), but by Friday at 4:00 we had booked flight, hotel, car, and bought Disneyland tickets set to be used Saturday Morning!!!!

We started out by not mentioning a thing to Brock about it, figuring we would keep it a surprise for as long as we could. The flight was at 9:30, so we got packed and woke him up a little early, and told him we were going for a car ride. When we got to the airport, we told him just enough he needed to know at the time, that we were going to go on an airplane.

We made it all the way to the main gate before Brock found out what was going on. Check out this clip. A little long, but a proud parent moment for all the wrong, spoiling reasons!

We couldn't have picked a better weekend. Apparently, it's unseasonably warm in Anaheim. Yesterday it was 81!!! And now Mat's favorite part of the trip - Brock is tall enough to do most big kid roller coasters! Even better news? - HE LOVES THEM!!! a quick list of rides we hit:
  • Matterhorn (2 times)
  • Space Mountain (2 times)
  • Splash Mountain
  • Toy Story Midway Mania
  • And what was his very favorite ride, you may ask? The TOWER OF TERROR
Brock liked that ride so much, we went twice in a row. Being the sucker I am for that kid, I let him celebrate by buying the "I survived the Tower of Terror shirt", and tried to get this picture to remember it by:

Here are a few other highlights from the weekend:

  • Jedi training: in Tomorrowland, they do a show where they select kids from the audience and teach them how to use a lightsaber, then a few Storm Troopers show up, Darth Vader (Dark Vader to Brock) pops out of the stage, and Darth Maul comes flying through the audience. Then all the new "Jedi's" get to fight Darth Vader or Darth Maul. Brock didn't get to be in the show, but he's hoping for another chance sometime soon.

  • Magic Kingdom Magic Morning. Don't miss this opportunity if it's ever placed in front of you. You get in the park one hour before it opens and get access to a few rides in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland AND the Disney characters are out for meet and greets. Goofy had Brock laughing out loud just from being goofy. We also saw Chip and Dale, Pluto, and Donald Duck, who happens to be Brock's favorite.

  • The weather. Repeat of above, but because I don't get to ride all those wonderful rides, this was my treat.

Lowlights from the weekend:

  • Coming home and flying into this smoggy, gross cold weather.
Also on a very strange note, we had the quickest landing possible. One of the passengers on our flight home started complaining of side pain and couldn't sit up. The flight attendants were really compassionate and tried to keep him comfortable, but there was not a doctor on board to help out. Basically, the answer was get him on the ground as fast and as safe as possible. The pilot certainly did that. We didn't finally slow down until we were all the way to the gate. Our flight was 40 minutes early, and that's saying something for what's normally a 2 hour flight. We were in the row right behind this gentleman and knew he was in serious trouble. Had the crew not been able to act so quickly, he would continue to get worse. Although we'll never really know what happened to this man, we pray he recovers and things workout for him.

Sweet Anticipation

I bought the first thing for Duncan the other day. I was killing time and decided to walk thought the baby department. I found the cutest NIKE onesies so I bought them. This has started a frenzy at our house, I decide I should get out all my baby stuff to see what I might need to buy to get ready for his arrival. Luckily it looks like I won't have to buy to much, but I sure have a lot of laundry to do to get ready, and drawers to clean to make space!

I think as the due date approaches and we are talking so much more about it Brock is getting more and more excited. Yesterday while brushing his teeth he just stopped and looked at me and said "you know, when Duncan get here I will get to teach him lots of new and exciting things." It was so cute! We just can't Wait!

Winter ZOO Fun

Brock and I went to the zoo on Monday to get out of the house. We bundled up so we would not get cold and we spent a lot of time in the reptile house and made lots of indoor stops along the way to get warmed up. We had a really fun time seeing the animals in the snow. I would recommend it as a fun activity as long as it's not too cold out.
The leopard was right up at the glass gnawing on some kind of bone. From what I could tell it was a knee cap of some sort. It was really cool because we could see his teeth and tongue really good.

Brock's 1st laughing gas

"I'm not so sure about this"
"Don't you wish you had sunglasses like these?"

Feeling a bit more relaxed!

4 Cavities! Can you believe my poor little guy had 4 cavities, I hope this does not mean he has inherited his mothers bad teeth! He has had two visits with the Dentist in the last few weeks. At the 1st apt. it took some time to talk him into putting on the astronaut mask (as the dentist called it. It's the nitrous mask.) Once we got the mask on he did great. There was a point where we were visiting with the Dentist while Brock was relaxing and as we stopped visiting and turned our attention back to Brock he had managed to wiggle his finger under the mask to pick his nose. Of course we all got a good laugh at that, Dr. Zeh said he had never seen that before! On the second visit Brock did great he sat right in the chair and requested root beer scent for the mask and could not wait for them to get started. Dr. Zeh was waiting for the nitrous to do it's job so he was just visiting with Brock and in his slightly high voice Brock said "Oh boy, I really like this stuff." I wish I had the video camera rolling because it was hilarious. Dr. Zeh and I could not stop laughing.
