31 Wks

Just thought I would share some of the fun pregnancy photos that we took. You need to click on the last photo to enlarge it so you can see the expression on Brock's face. It's the face he makes every time he feels the baby move.

Weekend at the house of mouse

Sorry for the long post, but we had an exciting weekend to update you all on. On Friday we decided we needed some sun, but let's back up a bit first...

About 6 weeks ago, I was really pestering Mat to go on a vacation somewhere. Being pregnant in the winter is no fun because you don't get out much. Mat said he couldn't make it work, with things going on at work, and I just left it at that: sad, and pregnant.

Then last Thursday, I saw Mat looking at some flight prices for some reason (still don't know why), but by Friday at 4:00 we had booked flight, hotel, car, and bought Disneyland tickets set to be used Saturday Morning!!!!

We started out by not mentioning a thing to Brock about it, figuring we would keep it a surprise for as long as we could. The flight was at 9:30, so we got packed and woke him up a little early, and told him we were going for a car ride. When we got to the airport, we told him just enough he needed to know at the time, that we were going to go on an airplane.

We made it all the way to the main gate before Brock found out what was going on. Check out this clip. A little long, but a proud parent moment for all the wrong, spoiling reasons!

We couldn't have picked a better weekend. Apparently, it's unseasonably warm in Anaheim. Yesterday it was 81!!! And now Mat's favorite part of the trip - Brock is tall enough to do most big kid roller coasters! Even better news? - HE LOVES THEM!!! a quick list of rides we hit:
  • Matterhorn (2 times)
  • Space Mountain (2 times)
  • Splash Mountain
  • Toy Story Midway Mania
  • And what was his very favorite ride, you may ask? The TOWER OF TERROR
Brock liked that ride so much, we went twice in a row. Being the sucker I am for that kid, I let him celebrate by buying the "I survived the Tower of Terror shirt", and tried to get this picture to remember it by:

Here are a few other highlights from the weekend:

  • Jedi training: in Tomorrowland, they do a show where they select kids from the audience and teach them how to use a lightsaber, then a few Storm Troopers show up, Darth Vader (Dark Vader to Brock) pops out of the stage, and Darth Maul comes flying through the audience. Then all the new "Jedi's" get to fight Darth Vader or Darth Maul. Brock didn't get to be in the show, but he's hoping for another chance sometime soon.

  • Magic Kingdom Magic Morning. Don't miss this opportunity if it's ever placed in front of you. You get in the park one hour before it opens and get access to a few rides in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland AND the Disney characters are out for meet and greets. Goofy had Brock laughing out loud just from being goofy. We also saw Chip and Dale, Pluto, and Donald Duck, who happens to be Brock's favorite.

  • The weather. Repeat of above, but because I don't get to ride all those wonderful rides, this was my treat.

Lowlights from the weekend:

  • Coming home and flying into this smoggy, gross cold weather.
Also on a very strange note, we had the quickest landing possible. One of the passengers on our flight home started complaining of side pain and couldn't sit up. The flight attendants were really compassionate and tried to keep him comfortable, but there was not a doctor on board to help out. Basically, the answer was get him on the ground as fast and as safe as possible. The pilot certainly did that. We didn't finally slow down until we were all the way to the gate. Our flight was 40 minutes early, and that's saying something for what's normally a 2 hour flight. We were in the row right behind this gentleman and knew he was in serious trouble. Had the crew not been able to act so quickly, he would continue to get worse. Although we'll never really know what happened to this man, we pray he recovers and things workout for him.
